Loki Episode 1 Review (SPOILERS)

Last Wednesday we finally received the next installment of the amazing Marvel shows on Disney Plus- LOKI! To say I was excited is understatement, and I watched it Wednesday morning and WOW. A big round of applause to Marvel for another great show and it's only just the first episode.

I've been watching easter-egg videos all week but I've kept myself from rewatching the first episode over and over again. I'm happy to say I've only watched it twice. That's what I call discipline.

I'll probably change that today since tomorrow we receive episode 2.

SPOILER'S AHEAD

If you don't remember during Avenger's Endgame Loki escaped with the tesseract while Tony was trying to get it for their time heist. This leads to Loki being arrested by the TVA (Time Variance Authority) who are the keepers of time apparently and Loki's escape doesn't comply with the great and wonderful time line the Time Keepers created.

This leads to the Multi-Verse finally being added into the Marvel world we know and this definitely sets up Dr. Strange: Multi-Verse of Madness that premiers next year. I also hopes it sets up Loki to be fighting alongside of Dr. Strange and Scarlett Witch (or at least with Scarlett Witch).

We meet Mobius M. Mobius, played by Owen Wilson (which I think was an extremely interesting choice). He is hunting a variant who is killing and trying to destroy the sacred timeline.

Mobius seems interested in Loki and we later find out why, but before we do we get basically an entire episode of Loki having a therapy session. It's another amazing example that the Marvel actors are extremely talented and the movies never really scratched the surface of what they can do. But we've seen in WandaVision and Falcon that these actors have a lot of emotional range! Loki crying over his mother dying and smiling at his and Thor's relationship being restored, almost broke me.

Eventually admits to Mobius that he doesn't enjoy hurting people, he does it as an illusion to seem strong when he feels very weak. Mobius is thrilled with this breakthrough and feels like this variant of Loki (yes I said this variant) can help him find and take down the evil variant he is hunting. Loki wonders why he can help, and Mobius drops the bomb. The variant they are hunting is.....

LOKI!!

Now, I'm not as versed in the Marvel comics but apparently everyone is believing this is when we will get Lady Loki. I'm not sure what to expect if we do, and I'm still holding out hope that it's not her but Natasha that we've seen in the trailer. Either way, we are in for a crazy adventure with lots of versions of Loki.

Tomorrow is the premier of Episode 2, so let's get ready for some Loki!
