Creating Morning Routines (Back-to-School part 3)

Morning Routines are so important! We can sometimes become slack in ours though when things like holidays or vacations role around. Summertime almost always throws a wrench in my morning routine and when school starts back, I have to work on reintroducing it into my life.

How do you go about creating a morning routine? Here are my top tips:

1. Prioritize what you need to have done. Once you know what you want to have done look to see how long it takes you to do that and choose your wake-up time accordingly.

2. Get things ready the night before. Prepping your bags, lunch, etc. the night before will help you not feel rushed or like you’re forgetting something. You’ll be able to get everything done and walk out the door confidant you have all you need for the day ahead.

3. Make time for journaling and/or meditation. This helps you focus your mind prepares you for whatever you may face.

4. Get up on your first alarm. It’s so easy to hit snooze and tell yourself you’ll wakeup on the second alarm. Just avoid the regret and wakeup when you hear the pesky ringing.

What to include in a morning routine?

1. No social media

2. Water

3. Workout

4. No coffee- save it for later

5. Journaling/Meditation

6. Make your bed

7. Healthy breakfast

8. Reading

These are just basic suggestions for a quality morning routine. My morning routine is pretty simple during the school year:

4 am- Wake up

4:15- Workout

4:30- Shower

4:45- Hair and Makeup

5:15- Quiet time

5:30- Breakfast

6:00- Reading/ Finishing up

6:30- Leave for work
