Passholder Play Time at Hollywood Studios

I've been (Abi) an Annual Passholder for over a year now and it's been one of the best decisions I've made. The deals, the special merchandise, and overall just knowing I can enter the parks whenever I want! Even if I do live 16 hours away! Since I do live so far away I don't get to do all the special things they open up for Passholders, so when I saw they were doing Passholder Play Time in Toy Story Land I booked a trip with my friend.

Getting a ticket to the play wasn't easy. Disney sent out emails, but not to all Passholders, and the date of when registration would open was extremely vague. We listened, we watched, and finally registration opened! I made a mad dash and waited in the virtual line, and reserved our early playdate with the Woody and Buzz. We chose the 7 a.m. slot which meant we had to check in by 6:45 a.m, we were both pretty tired as we rode the bus and took the long walk to the Hollywood Studios entrance. We didn't have to wait long once we got inside the park before cast members escorted our very small group to Andy's Backyard. When I say small I mean small, microscopic when it comes to Disney crowds. I've never seen the park so empty since I worked there, and I loved all the memories it brought back.

As part of the perks of play time everyone received a fastpass for Alien Swirling Saucers and Slinky Dog Dash, good for one ride each. The first time you rode each ride you used your fastpass and after that we were told to go through the stand by line- which weren't lines at all. We decided to ride Alien Swirling Saucers first, and it was my first time riding it so I was excited, but honestly it's not what I expected. The queue line is great though! I even noticed what looked like one of the laser guns from Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin in the Magic Kingdom. The ride is a great ride for kids, but I wish it had been longer.

Slinky Dog Dash was a continual walk-on line which was amazing! One time a cast member even told us to just pick a spot to ride in, and we decided to take that as a challenge- a challenge to ride in every row of Slinky. However, I could only make it five times through before I just got sick and had to stop if I wanted to enjoy the rest of the day. My friend took a break with me and we got to do character meet and greets with Woody, Jessie, and Buzz. I love those toys! Woody even realized I was Disney Bounding as Bo Peep, but Buzz thought I had dressed to resemble Mrs. Nesbit. So, I guess I was double Disney Bounding.

Toy Story Mania was also open but we weren't given fastpasses, and didn't need them either. We walked on and right when I thought I won, my friend beat me soundly. I do love Toy Story Mania, I feel like it's a lot easier to play the game compared to Space Ranger Spin.

Finally, I felt well enough to go and get breakfast from Woody's Lunch Box. I couldn't decide between the Hazelnut and the Strawberry Box Tart (basically a fancy Pop tart), so of course I got both. They are both amazing! The Hazelnut (Nutella) is perfectly chocolate and a richer than the strawberry therefore I'd save it for a snack or dessert. The strawberry is perfectly lite and flaky. What I loved most about both of them was the thickness of the pastries compared to a regular Pop Tart.

Disney is doing a lot for the Passholders lately, with special perks like the early morning Play Time, the pop-up merchandise at Magic Kingdom last week, and it only makes me anxiously await what they'll offer us for Star Was Galaxy's Edge.

How do you get invites and notifications on all the Passholder perks? Make sure they have your correct email, join the Disney World Passholder Facebook page, and turn on the post notifications. Sadly, some Passholders don't all receive the emails, even when they call to get it fixed. I'm not sure if this is a technical issue or if Disney is only sending these updates to a random assortment. A lot of Passholders were upset over the way Disney handled the registration for Play Time, so hopefully things will level out for the next big event.
