Welcome to Day #1 of our 25 Days of Baking Challenge! If you're not sure what this is then you might want to visit the post before this, but basically it's like it sounds. It is a challenge we created for ourselves. Our goal is to create 25 baked treats and add a Disney theme/twist to each one!
As I contemplated what the first creation would be I quickly started to form a plan when I spotted the extra apples on my counter that didn't get used in the cranberry salad for Thanksgiving. I (Annie), personally am not a fan of apple pie, but I knew:
I had never fixed an apple pie on my own.
My husband loves apple pie.
I wanted to attempt a lattice style crust.
So the idea was put into motion as I gave it a whirl! The recipe I followed was from All Recipes:

The lattice work did fall apart after baking, but you can hopefully still see the idea from the picture. I honestly found creating the lattice style to be an art form as I had to pull back the correct pieces and just far enough each time.
As you might have already guessed, the Disney theme/spin I'm putting on this recipe is Snow White of course. To be clear, no poisoned apples were used in the making of this pie. My husband has proven that to be true after enjoying a few pieces with vanilla ice cream to top it off!
Join us tomorrow for Day 2 of our challenge!
