It's the Disney Countdown!

I’m sure many would agree that one of the worst weeks is the week before a Disney trip because all you can think about is Disney. It’s so hard to focus on anything else. But I also love all the last minute planning that has to be done, and watching the countdowns keep getting smaller and smaller. We’ve done some fun things to make the wait bearable, such as scavenger hunts and little gifts for each other with things pertaining to our trip.
One year Annie and I surprised mom with the news that we had booked her Spa day while on our trip at Saratoga Springs, one of Disney’s Senses Spa locations. We told her by way of a scavenger hunt, which lead through the house and ended with her finding spa stuff on her bed with towels in the shape of Mickey and a Disney gift card. Our clues weren’t Disney related but you could definitely make yours Disney themed.
After researching on Pinterest and finding quite a few fun countdown ideas we’ve narrowed it down to our favorite four, the last one being our own creation. These are all great ways to heighten your Disney trip anticipation.
The Classic “countdown chains"
These chains are a popular craft specifically for Christmas, I remember doing them in elementary school as Christmas garland. It’s a great way to watch the days get shorter and shorter until you’re back with Mickey Mouse. To make it unique for you:
Theme your colors! You could do classic red, yellow, and black for Mickey, or if you're going during Christmas use red and green. I made mine for this upcoming trip (4 days left as I write this) themed for Halloween! I wrote "boo" on the purple chains and "to you" on the orange, and I'm loving taking away the chains as the days till I leave get shorter and shorter.
You could also add quotes and fun facts if you're doing it as a family.
Disney download
This is the countdown we’ve used the past two times and it’s fun. I love the fun art on the numbers and the fact they’re already done. They’re good if you don’t want to put the time into making a countdown of your own.
A simple calendar
You can put a calendar up on your fridge and do the countdown, as well as highlight the days you need to make your fast passes and dinning reservations. It’s a great use for both countdowns really.
You can go the Dollar Store and find a Disney calendar, or go on Amazon and find some great calendars. I’ve looked some up and put affiliate links below, these are super cute and not too expensive.
I have this Thomas Kinkade calendar and I've loved it so much! If you haven't seen his painting before you have to go look them up because they're absolutely beautiful.
Our countdown
This was mom’s idea and I love it! I got a cricket a few months ago and have played around with different cutout designs. We’ve always loved paper dolls, Annie and I played with them all growing up, and mom liked them for us because they were easy to carry with us. We’ve created a Minnie paper doll countdown, included is Minnie's silhouette and her classic outfit pieces, and of course you have to have the castle, so we’ve given them that as well. Just put the scene together as you countdown to your Disney trip. It’s super easy to use if you have one, we’ve included the PDF I created, and you can upload it to your Cricut Design Space.
