Fall in Love with Autumn at Disney World

Fall is one of our favorite times of year at Walt Disney World, almost more than Christmas time. The decorations, the parties, the festivals, and the treats, it all makes for a magical change of seasons.

Disney starts fall early but honestly we're okay with that because it gives us more time to enjoy all the wonderful offerings and sights. Here are just a few of our favorites which we're sure will make you fall in love with Autumn at Walt Disney World.

1. Fall Decor

The seasonal decor around the Magic Kingdom is picture perfect. It's what you would imagine the old fashion main streets to look like during fall time. The pumpkins are the best part, from the Mickey pumpkins adoring the lampposts along the street, to the pumpkin people right when you enter Magic Kingdom. One of our favorites is the pumpkin Confectionary with a delicious looking caramel apple.

2. The Trolley Show

With each change of season the trolley show, which runs throughout the morning at the Magic Kingdom, changes costumes and songs to match the new season. During summer they wear patriotic colors and sing about summer picnics, during spring they wear pastels and sing about Easter, and during the fall they wear Autumn colored outfits and sing about fall. All the shows are classics and some of our favorite moments are taking time to watch the Trolley show come down Main Street. Honestly, we can't pick a favorite because they're all unique and evoke a sense of better times.

3. Food and Wine Festival

Disney has figured out how to fill each season with a festival food and fun at Epcot. The first two were Flower and Garden for Spring/Summer and Food and Wine for Fall, and last year they added Festival of the Arts for the Winter and early Spring months. This coming January we plan to visit the Festival of the Arts, and we've experienced Flower and Garden multiple times, but have never taken time to explore Food and Wine, until this year. I made a detailed list of all the food offerings which sounded appetizing and there were so choices and so little time I only got to sample a few. I also got to check out the festival center they had with special rooms, a coffee demonstration, and special passholder offerings. My favorite food I tried was the teriyaki chicken bun from Japan. The bread was fluffy and doughy, which is my favorite, and the chicken and vegetable mix inside was absolutely amazing. I seriously hope they bring it back next year. Make sure when you go to the festival grab a passport from the front of the park or anywhere around World Showcase. The festival passport will tell you what each booth has and it gives you stickers to mark where you've eaten. I believe the best time to go to Disney is during any of the festivals because it gives you more to experience.

4. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Between the parade, show, fireworks, candy, and characters, you really can't go wrong with this party. The Christmas one is just as fun, but there's something special about Disney Villains making such a ruckus around the Magic Kingdom. It's definitely worth your money.

5. Seasonal Themed Treats

Food is a huge part of a Disney vacation and each season there are speciality treats which are simply magical, and they seem to be upping their food game every year. This year I made a list of what I wanted to try so I didn't miss a thing, and for some reason one of the top items on my list was a sugar cookie. But this sugar cookie wasn't just any sugar cookie, it was shaped like candy corn! I got it my first day in the parks from Main Street Confectionary of course, and it made for the perfect late night snack. Of course there were the treats from Mickey's Not So Scary Party such as Maleficent key lime soft serve which was my personal favorite. Make sure to check the candy corn cookie and all the other delectable fall treats before they're gone!

6. The Autumn Friendship Faire

Mickey's Friendship Faire is one of our favorite castle shows and we've only ever seen the summer version, until this year! The original is perfect but the Autumn addition beats it by a hair. The costumes are more fall colored, and the music is a good ole' fashioned country hoedown sound. It brought tears to my eyes because it was everything I loved in one bright package. You won't want to miss this festival of friendship and the autumn season.

As you can tell there's no lack of fall festivities going on at Walt Disney World, they seem to be pushing to make it as popular as their Christmas season. Every season at Walt Disney World is magical! Which one is your favorite? Comment below and tell us!
