If you've seen our other post, or follow us on social media then you know we love character meet and greets. Growing up we did them a lot more, and I feel like that's a lot to do with the fact they had more characters out and about back in the day. One thing we did growing up is we would have the characters sign stuff for us as well as grabbing a picture with them. We started by using the typical autograph books but then we started getting creative. One of the last times we went as kids my mom purchased a Tinker Bell visor for me to have the characters sign. I was very into Tinker Bell at the time, and so far that trip was turning out to be my Tinker Bell themed trip. Our room key cards (this was WAYYYY before Magic Bands) had a Tinker Bell design, I had found a snow globe with Tinker Bell and a hidden Mickey inside; so it just made sense for to get a Tinker Bell Visor.
I love this sassy Tinker Bell and the saying "Looking for Lost Boys" started a great conversation when I met Peter Pan and Wendy.
We've put together a list of items for you to use instead of the autograph books, and they're all easy to carry around the parks.
Items to Capture Autographs
1. T-shirtsThese can be bought cheaply at any craft store, or even go to Target and get a great quality plain tee. Make sure you grab some fabric pens as well and make them part of your packing list so you don't forget!
2. Hats
Again go to your local craft stores or head to Amazon and find your style! Or you can grab one from Disney like I did. (Don't forget fabric pens!)
3. Bags/Backpack
Walmart and Amazon have some fun Disney Backpacks and bags, but they also have nice blank bags that have open space for autographs.
4. Magic Bands
You already have it with you, and many use their bands over and over again, while others use them to decorate and commemorate their trips. You won't be able to get a lot of signatures so make sure you choose a character special to you.
5. Mugs
If you're on the Disney Dining Plan you already get one of the refillable mugs, so take that with you one day and have characters sign it. You could also grab a mug of your choice and bring that. The possibilities are endless.
6. Park Map and Times Guide
The park maps and times guide can be found in the front of the park and are great to help you plan your day if you're newer to the parks. They also make great pieces for scrapbooks, especially the times guide because they have the date on them. I would have them sign both that way you can unfold the map and frame it with the signatures, and then you'll also have the times guide to put inside your scrapbook or journal.
